When do you think is the last chance to plant sugar beets and turnips.

It is too late for sugar beets, but turnips can be planted anytime in the next few weeks. We did plant some last year as part of Biologics Green Patch Plus around Sept 10 that grew pretty well (greens almost a foot and bulbs a little larger then golf ball size), but this was in S. Michigan and we had a warm october. I aim for the first week in august for brassicas and planted this years this past sunday. If you do plant as late as the end of august/early september I would go a little heavier on the seed rate to account for less growth, especially if you are up north.

That is if you want beets. Try turnips and rape now add clover and you should have a good clover field growing next spring, if your PH is right.
