Can you plant sugar beets in the fall? I know alot of planting with turnips goes on for a winter carry over just curious if sugar beets need longer to grow, thanks.

Of course you can plant them in the fall but you're not going to get much bulb growth.

You will be wasting your money. Plant brassica or small grain if you want a late season annual.

I noticed Wildlife Buffets Fall Blend has a sugar beats in it and they recommend planting dates of july 20-august 15 in this area. Is the sugar beat seed just wasting space in the bag, or is that enough time for something substantial to grow? Will they produce a good leaf that deer will eat first like with a turnip?
