I'm finally going to try to catch a sturgeon this fall. I know I need a sturgeon permit in addition to a fishing license. I know little about the permit. I was wondering if there was any location that has permits near South Lyon or close to the Ambassador Bridge. Also I was wondering if I need to go in person with my license to get it, or can someone else pick it up for me.

Yes sturgeon and musky tags are like deer tags- can only use it once (keep one fish) per license year.

And yes, next year there will be no sturgeon or musky tags given or needed. BUT the limit is still one fish per year. And it will be required to report to DNR when you keep your one fish.
