Has anyone ever seen a pike that looks like this?

I was under the impression that the "blue pike" that is thought to be extinct in the Great Lakes was a "walleye" and not a "pike". You know how some used to, and maybe some people still do, call a walleye a walleyed pike. There is a school of thought that believes that they never existed, that they were just a color variation of walleye.

That is a real interesting catch. I too would like to hear what the biologists have to say.
It was strange - when I was a kid some folks called them Walleyed Pike - my dad for one. I was told it was because they had teeth same as a Pike.
Then - when we caught a Walleye in lake Erie it was called a Pickerel back then. It was even listed as Pickerel on restaurant menus and all the commercial fishermen called them Pickerel back in the 40's and 50's. It was quite confusing.

Silver pike. They have been occasionally reported from lakes in Wisconsin and Minnesota for decades and occur sporadically over the fishes entire range. They are a northern pike, just a rare color variation. We also see a similar color variation in musky rearing at the hatchery.
