Straight Wall Rifle Regulation Southern Shotgun Zone Expires on May 12, 2017
The regulations for straight-walled cartridge use in the limited firearms deer zone were only set in place for three years and are now subject to review.
This topic is on Natural Resources Commission agendas for this spring. It will be discussed at the following:

Please consider submitting comments in favor of continuation of the straight wall firearm in southern shotgun zone either at the meetings or at the NRC email address above. Comments could include discussion that this rule has allowed youth, women, aging hunters to become more interested in deer hunting by shooting .357 Mag, .44 Mag etc. versus high recoil slugs. The rule also has had considerable economic impact to the
Pittman–Robertson Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act from firearm sales and ammunition which benefits all wildlife.
In addition, consider adding the highlighted calibers to the rule to be consistent with Ohio:

“Straight-walled cartridge rifles in the following calibers: .357 Magnum, .357 Maximum, .38 Special, .375 Super Magnum, .375 Winchester, .38-55, .41 Long Colt, .41 Magnum, .44 Special, .44 Magnum, .444 Marlin, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .45 Long Colt, .45 Winchester Magnum, .45 Smith & Wesson, .450 Marlin, .454 Casull, .460 Smith & Wesson, .45-70, .45-90, .45-110, .475 Linebaugh, .50-70, .50- 90, .50-100, .50-110, and .500 Smith & Wesson.”
Calibers like .35 Remington, 30-30 Winchester, 45-70 Govt all should be considered for inclusion as well.
