Hey,
I did a little experiment with some salmon spawn I got out of a king this past fall. I kept it in the refrigerator for awhile and when I went to make more bag last night, it stunck. I'm wondering if this spawn will still take steelies or will they turn there head like I did, lol. I went out yesterday for an hour and caught nothing.

I do have some more spawn in the freezer that has already been cured so I won't miss out on much if this stuff is useless. Thanks for any info...

Not sure if it works on steelhead but that night after you left when we hit the Oscoda pier in August I caught 3 channel cats with some stinky steelhead spawn tightlining. Two were around five pounds. Give it to a catfisherman if it doesn't work for steelies.

instead of throwing it out, you could chum with it and see how you do, i allways wanted to try it, but never seem to have enough spawn

I use it for chuming fish.Even if they wont eat it attracts them to the area.

Good idea Zob. Think I will keep it for next year pier salmon outing.

i just came from the river and was using a yarn spawn with no luck so tried my year and a half uncured frozen spawn bag. went 1/3 the two big ones won the fight. read the se mich streams and river forum......
