Interesting night. Ran out from the Kkln river. Edges were wet and ice broke under us. Launches on the way to bay were wet and broken ice. Headed toward St. Park with intend on going to some old marks by Linwood. Got out to the crack and followed it west. Saw a pull behind shanty sitting on glare ice in crack with a hole in front of it. People were fishing near by and saw no sign of anybody by shanty so kept going. Followed crack until it turned south. Bunch of machines thinking of crossing but all turned back so we decided to get away from people and fish. Low and behold 20 minutes later 2 airboats head out from St. Park right to where the shanty was. Took them about 1/2 hour to retrieve a quad of the bottom. Didn't see any police or coast guard so figured nobody drowned.
As I was standing there looking out the window of my shanty watching the salvage I glanced down at my Vex and it was lit up. Was holding the pole and when I moved it there was a fish on. Set the hook got it almost to the hole and lost it. Picked up other pole, fish on. Lost that one too. Rebaited first rod, sent it down had a hit, got my minnow. Tried to get it to hit bare hook but they lost interest. In the mean time by buddy lands a 4lb eye. This was at 4:00pm and we thought tonight is going to be our night. Wrong, not another mark or fish. fished until after dark.
Ice changed a lot since Sunday, be safe and Tight Lines!
