Brown Trout

Brown Trout live in streams, rivers and Lakes. Brown Trout like to hang out behind logs. In my opinion Brown Trout are one of the smartest Trout. The World record for a Brown Trout is 40 pounds 4 ounces. They caught the world record Brown Trout in the Little Red River in Arkansas. Brown Trout live 5-12 years in rivers and 15+ years in lakes. In small rivers without that much food Brown Trout don’t live more than 4 years. Brown Trout's favorite food would probably be insects. The number of eggs that each female has each year depends on how big the fish is. For example a small fish would lay a couple hundred eggs as for a large Brown Trout would lay a couple thousand eggs. Brown Trout like to spawn in waters from 44- 48f. When Brown Trout spawn the female builds a saucer like nest in the gravel. As we know Brown Trout spawn in the fall their eggs don’t hatch till the spring. In Wyoming along a section of the Platte River called the miracle mile, (actually 6 miles) is awesome for Brown Trout. An estimated 21,000 Brown Trout in those 6 miles sizes averaging 16 inches and also 5,800 Rainbow Trout usually averaging about 17 inches. There are Brown Trout in 40 of the 48 connected states. All of the Trout family are related to the Salmon family. Usually Brown Trout have red, black and orange spots on their body. Like Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout have 3 history forms 1) Stream form 2) lake form and 3) sea run form. Generally, the rank from hardest to easiest to catch is Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout and last but least Cutthroat Trout. Usually 3 Rainbow Trout are equally caught to one Brown Trout. The eye of a Brown Trout is better than Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout and a Brook Trout because of the rod cells in the Brown Trout’s eye. Rod cells help the fish see in the dim light. Let's go fishing! :)
