I'm using my 14 ft tracker grizzly for both duck hunting and fishing. Interested in Walleye & Smallies in Lake St. Clair and Large Mouth on Lake Orion etc.

Considering I won't be going out to far on LSC, what would you suggest?

I'm considering the Lowrance LMS 522c iGPS & the Hummingbird 787c2i Combo.

Both cost about $650

I would think that on a boat your size, a combined unit with an internal GPS antenna would be fine. Cabelas sells the LMS combined unit for $600 and $700.00. By going with a combined unit you are saving yourself $650.00.

You will want the wider beam for shallow waters. 20 foot or less. I'd get the dual beam if its the same price. otherwise go with a traducer that covers a wide area for shallow water. Narrow beams are good for deep, but in 20 foot you will only be looking at a small spot on the bottom.

Thanks guys.

Ended up going with the Lowrance M68C/Map. Perfect for the size boat i have & can be converted to portable for ice & dock fishing.
