Fished the river for some eye's this morning from 0600-0730. I never got one eye but I did manage to boat 3 smallies and a few nice jumbo perch. Look's like the bass action is starting to heat up on the river.

The biggest smallie was about 3 lbs or so, the other two were in the 2lb range. As for what am I going to do with them, well eat them of coarse. I use a beer batter and cutt the fillet's up into cubes and deep fat fry them.
My neighbor before passing away kept smallies for table fare and finally convinced me to try them. Deep fried with a batter and the taste was comparable to Walleye. Chow down mordenk... On Sunday we found a spot just south of the Middle Channel... a rocky bottom area that was Smallie heaven. We were in search of Perch but boated 3 smallies in the 3 to 4lb class in about 10 minutes of fishing. Great fun on perch rigs and light line.
