How do you think scents stay put on a piece of metal??? Should I get a piece of sponge and soak it in anise, then attach it to the cannonball?? Or is there a small hollow bb, a foam ring?, that I could put on the line above the lure??? I have never considered scenting before. Can't wait to try it. Thanks.

I recall FBD posting a tip that said he used a small piece of pipe cleaner soaked in scent, and then wrapped it around the shank of the treble.

I've never done it, but I betcha it works pretty slick.

Thanks. I faintly remember the pipe cleaner trick. I DO have some pro scents i bought for pike and muskie a few years back but I have never tried it. I have since learned muskie use their lateral lines to hunt, not the nose. Pike I do not recall what they use more. I'll buy some anise today with the pipe cleaners. Soak em for a day and try them out Sunday. Thanks again.

One thing for sure with scents...be sure to wash them off after you are done fishing for the day. The film left on them gets tacky when dried...not to mention that it stinks up a spoon box..

A friend of mine puts Smelly Jelly on the back of his spinner blades when walleye fishing. He said it lasts a long time....The only thing id be leary of, is the possiblility of it ruining the finish or making the tape peel up. He never mentioned anything about that, but it wouldnt surprise me if it does.

I've used it for 3 yrs without any negative affects on my walleye spoons and crankbaits.

When I was a kid I made with the help of my dad a excellant water repellant anise product like the Gel you talk about. It was called Eric's Anise Gel <-- Yeah. I got made fun of a little. I would sell it in many local bait shops. I would love togive out the secret but My daughter is 5 yrs old now and maybee she can get the same business expierence that I did as a child. If i remember right I sold it for $1.00 a can. Probally the cheapest fishing item anyone could buy that really made a diference. I am going to have her start making it and try to market it. I think it will be great for her as it was for me. It will also be a great expirence for the both of us. I will let you all know when it is available. I guess whoever wants some just e-mail me your address and when it is made i will have her package it up help her with the addresses and mail it out. I cant imagine it costing more than $ 1-2 w/ a stamp.
