Why are saskatchewan breed of whitetail deer so much larger than deer in our area. I herd they were a differnt breed, my daughter is doing research on this, any help...........

And they're part of the Dakota strain.

Look at the deer in my file. My indian guide is holding my 245# dressed buck.

The Bergmann rule sums it up. I have heard they relocated Canadian bucks to Texas. The deer dropped in mass.

Not just SK for big bucks. All those northern provinces produce big bodied deer. One thing that helps also is age structure. Anyone want to guess how many big bucks never see a white man? They die of old age or wolf kill.
