Hello Anglers,

Spent some time fishing out of SANG today. Started in 7-8 FOW with only a few strikes on tubes. Started throwing cranks: square bills and X-raps and got a few largemouths from the sporadic cabbage weeds.

Started thinking the day was going to be a bust, so we moved out to 10-12 FOW as some of the reports suggested. Got on some nicer fish in the deeper water. Ended up boating quite a few over 17" and a 20 incher that had me huffin' and puffin'!

Here's what worked:

*Strike King Go-B-Gone (goby style tube bait sold @ Gander Mt., not B-Pro . . . lame) in Goby Latte. Fished it with hops as it made contact with the stink grass and cabbage.
*Bass Pro Goby Tube in "baby poop." Yeah, that's the actual color name. Worked it just like the Go-B-Gones, tube jig buried in the hollow cavity.
*Strike King Coffee Tube (watermelon w/ gold and purple fleck and watermelon w/ red fleck) and Chompers Tubes (Peanut Butter & Jelly--looks like Junebug with a tan belly). Fished these conventional tubes in a drag and reel presentation with very little action. Most strikes came on the initial drag.
*Strike King KVD 1.5 Square Bill (Sexy Shad) worked over top of the cabbage.
*Rapala X-Rap (perch). Had the most luck just reeling it in instead of using it like an actual jerkbait!

There are still some nice fish out there. We didn't catch any sub-14" fish, but you gotta keep moving. They seemed to be spread all over that big old bay. We worked them as long as we could, but eventually the lake turned into a giant boat-swamping whirl pool, as all of SE Michigan seemed to come out in their Bajas and Donzis, ready to sour their livers and work on their future melanoma for the upcoming Jobbie Nooner.

Attached are some pics of the fish we caught and a "tasty little surprise" that we tossed back in!

Hey Caffeine,

That 'eye came off of a "baby poop" (kind of like a greenish, yellow, pumpkinseed) BPS goby tube in 11 FOW. Guess those guys like to eat gobies too . . .

Saw lots of guys running boards today in 10-12 fow. Most of them were catching smallies, though.
