I've read several ads recently for S&W revolvers where the seller mentions an early pinned barrel or a later non-pinned barrel model.
Is there an advantage or disadvantage to a S&W revolver with a pinned barrel?
Where would I look on a S&W to see if it is a pinned or non-pinned barrel?

The older Smith & Wesson revolvers had the barrels screwed into position and a retaining pin installed in the top of the frame and holding the barrel in place. These revolvers usually had recessed chambers in the rear of the cylinder. Collectors tend to prefer pinned and recessed revolvers and they usually command higher prices. Hope this helps. All the best...
