My uncle has a Rem. 700 ADL (wood stock) in 30-06, w/ Burris scope, flip-open caps, sling and some ammo for $400. This gun is in very good condition. Is it worth $400? It was purchased new in the 80's.

Little high if you ask me. What Burris scope is on it and when was it purchased?

The ADL was cheap when it was available. A couple years back, you could pick up a brand new one up for $350-$400. A Burris Fullfield II is only <$200.

I thought it was a little high too at first but remember this is an older ADL when they were made with real walnut stocks and actual blued barrels. I'd take a 20 year old ADL over a brand new one based on the ones I've seen. Subtract the scope and I think $300 is about right for a used ADL from the era. A used, synthetic-stocked model from two years ago is a different story... Personally I'd work on the uncle to about $300 but I'd don't know how good a nephew the poster has been either.
