Hello everybody, I once read that you can buy a handgun from a private seller if under the age of 21, but not from an FFL dealer. Is this right? Thanks

As for as age is concerned, Federal law requires a person to be 21 when buying from a dealer with a FFL. To buy from a private seller, Michigan's state law says you must be at least 18. Michigan did not increase the age when the Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed by Congress. Other states may have different age requirements.

You will need a Purchase Permit issued by your local Law Enforcement agency, usually who comes when you call 911.

I have sold a revolver and a pistol to under 21 chaps, they had the required paperwork and ID.

You can buy the handgun under 18, but you have to be 21 to buy ammo for them.

Unless you say you have a 9mm,40 or 44 carbine,357 lever long gun.

So keep that loophole in mind also.

There may be others, but those I'm aware of, good luck.
