A friend of mine has a large cedar deck suronding his country home. A critter (a porky i think) is chewing his deck boards. The chew marks are about 1 - 1.5 inches wide and 6in to 1 ft long. My friend has shot a porky off his porch last year but the damage is happing again. What would be the best way to stop him? Mothballs, live trap, or a 12ga.? Or should i stake out a den tree if i can find one? Is there any deterant or a bait that they dislike or like. Thanks in advance.

Spunds like a porky to me. They were doing damage to a shed I built up north by eating away on the T111 siding I used. I had to use 30" aluminum rolled siding all around the lower portion of the walls to keep them from eating into it.

Ill send you a PM!

Try putting the hottest hot sauce you can find into a can of paint or varnish ect. I have some friends that have done this at their camp and the porkies can't get past the first few bites!!!
