Check with the village of Empire. They have a ramp at the north end of the city park that is composed of metal mesh sections that interlink. They pull it prior winter for storage, but if it is in that cuts the distance down considerably. This is a shallow draft boat launch site.

It seems like almost any time I am up there at the park in Empire, there is a decent westerly or southwesterly. Anything over about 10mph and you have some pretty decent waves that you will be launching into. Seen many boats attempt and then decide not to try and others not even make an attempt. There is nothing to act as a break wall, so you have to pick your days.

That said, I did watch a guy put a pontoon in there last year. This year (last week) you would have been backing into 2.5 footers.

Download the windfinder app.and then the esch road/ empire location. It will tell you the wind speed, and direction plus the wave direction and height. We use the sight when we are going kayaking. It isn't perfect but it's the best we have found so far.
