I was thinking of trying to fish the clinton by the mouth on south river road for sum pike this weekend and was woundering if anyone fishes it and what kind of bait should i use. I was thinking about putting out a sucker or a big shinner minnow on a slip bobber on one pole and maybe casting sum raps on the other or puttin one out for perch and one for pike any info would be a great help

The last warm winter we had like this was in 98. I cought my limit of pike fishing the spillway around the begining of Feb. I also saw x2 40 plus inch pike cought. Most of the fish I cought were 3-10lbs. I aslo saw a 12lb walleye cought on a rattle trap. For bait I was useing 6 inch minnow under a large slip bobber with a leader and treble hook thought the nose. For some reason the pike wouldnt hit sucker minnows. I dont know what kind of minnows I was using but they were big and silver. The dnr launch at south river rd and spillway are both good places to try this time of year if there isnt any ice.
