Anyone have any recommendations on what to use for a nesting/base for the bottom of a pigeon coop and base of nesting boxes?

I'm no expert when it comes to Pigeons but I would guess using 1/2"x1/2" or even 1/4"x1/4" hardware cloth. That way the droppings can fall to a drop pan of some sort for easy clean up and you can still put nesting material on top of it.
