Happy Easter guys, one of those Tom’s is a slammer but had a few tail feathers plucked out since I saw him last. Definitely would have done a full mount if I got him. Beard is easily over 10” and pushing 12”, and he has some great hooks. He is the main target this year.
I’ll be out in the morning with dad. The three nice Tom’s went through the yard the last two days, 9am yesterday and 7am this morning while I was working. No hens with them. Hoping they do the same thing a third time.
Congrats to you buddy Ryan! We have one 90 yds away. Nice beard but boy the one I’m after. Hoping he breaks away from two hens and dad can get a shot. The one I’m after sounds like he is hanging out a ways south this morning.
I was able to call one in for dad, ended up having two Tom’s come through just out of range and behind some brush. One hung around for about 20 minutes before he finally offered dad a shot. 10-1/8” beard and 1-1/8” spurs. First Tom off of my property. Out again now for the afternoon after the big Tom. We will see if he shows up.
I haven’t been our much at all with the wife’s work schedule and watching my kid. Wife goes on vacation for 6 days the end of next week. I will not be picky if I don’t have one by the time she gets back. I’ll be out tomorrow for a little while.
No luck this year guys, had some great hunts but the birds hung out a little too far. Could have shot them in my yard but didn’t want to do that. I guess I waited around on that big Tom too long. Both groups of birds moved to the other sides of the sections I hunt. Having a kid makes for limited hunting time I’m learning.
