Hey, you guys have been more than helpful on the tip-up thing; thank you. I was out this morning and hooked 3 walleye, landed one. The frustrating thing about it was about halfway up both of the nicer fish just came off. I have been having this problem lately and I was wondering if any of you have had this happen, and also how to remedy this.

I use #8 trebles on blue minnows skin-hooked under the dorsal with no stinger, and when the fish hits, I give some slack for maybe 5 seconds then feel for the fish and set the hook. The fish usually stays on until about halfway up and then pulls off. I don't horse the fish but I don't give any slack, either. I would appreciate any and all advice, because I have lost more than one dinner to this problem.

Thanks again,

Bartie

Another thing to try is sharpening your hooks. They should poke into and hold in your thumb nail with little effort when sliding the point of the hook don the lenght of it. Your hook well penetrate the fishes mouth better.
