I had one with stomach contents that had chunks of cheese and bratwurstyou can't tell where it came from until the tag is read in the lab.
Wisconsin fish have a yellow tattoo on the belly.I dont think I've caught a single clipped fish this year in frankfort. Plus you can't tell where it came from until the tag is read in the lab.
I've heard that BS for years. Those yellow blotches are a natural occurring thing when they start the end game.Wisconsin fish have a yellow tattoo on the belly.
Buddy pointed it out said he watched a tv special on it. I’ll have to ask him where he saw it. It looked like a possible tattoo it was only one dot and both in the same spot on both fish.I've heard that BS for years. Those yellow blotches are a natural occurring thing when they start the end game.
Neat! It's basically a fish freckle, that shows up usually near spawning time. See it on all species of salmon. The WI marker is just a myth that has run rampant for years.

I caught one in Ludington MI last week. Didn’t know that was a Wisconsin mark.Wisconsin fish have a yellow tattoo on the belly.
Check my link a few posts above. It's not a mark from WI.I caught one in Ludington MI last week. Didn’t know that was a Wisconsin mark.
My boys and I hauled our boat up from Lansing today for our first Frankfort foray. Still haven’t taken it off the trailer. Tomorrow doesn’t look likely either. Fingers crossed for Sunday and Monday….Anyone check the harbor today? Just wondering if there is anything out there worth jigging tomorrow morning.
Guess I will have to start checking my fish, I have never noticed the yellow spot on any. Thanks for posting that.
Yea i stand corrected. The yellow dots are apparently the mark death, not a tattoo.I caught one in Ludington MI last week. Didn’t know that was a Wisconsin mark.
Either true or false, I’ve never seen one before.
