Wait what???
Whoo hoo!
I'll be over to check it out tomorrow.
Hoping the Feds didn't fill it back in yet. Be like em to do something like that.

Kudos to whomever did it :)
This is outstanding. It just highlights how we live like peasants under idiotic government regulations until somebody says enough is enough.

Oh man! This is fantastic! Young Johnny! No more throwing a chimney block off the bow with a clothesline for an anchor.

No more trolling at 5 miles an hour!

You are really stepping up.

Couldn’t report live due to the battle with waves/fish/and playing bumper boats😂 but ended the morning 4-4. Fished from 75 fow to 100 fow. Fish came on rigger with bloody nose down 50, green ladder back plug on a 10 color, crushed pearl plug on a 150 cu and atomic melon on a free slider down 60. This will be my last report for the summer, unfortunately heading back to PT school for the year. Awesome group and enjoyed meeting a few of you guys at the cleaning station. Can’t wait for next summer!

2-6 tonight. Dang fish are mean. Broke a couple off, one snapped a treble hook.
Different port, but I have been casting over 10 years, have never been spooled but last week I got spooled twice in the same night. Could not slow the fish down, the 2nd fish I had the drag about locked down it took it a bit for the fish to get drag going but once it did it started taking line faster and faster, till it was gone. Even the ones I have caught have put up a hell of a fight.

You're going to LOVE it. A must for the bay. Spot lock is great and auto-pilot is the best money spent. Congrats on your new home.

I had one hit a dipsy the other night. Zero stopping it. 20 minutes prior I landed a 26lb fish on the same rod that stopped and turned that fish no problem. The second fish kept going and going and going. Eventually had to put so much pressure it broke off. Was pretty wild.

I honestly can’t remember the last time my boat got spooled, or broken off by a fish. I’m not saying that I’m better than anyone else, but there are things I did to prevent it such as having fresh line, the correct line, the correct size reel for the application, and well maintained reels, and the proper terminal tackle, such as the correct size and strength, and type of swivel for the job.

Never been spooled but the ones that came close were always those really long athletic looking kings.

I get a lot of fish that run the spools pretty low. The ones that get the best of me are usually hooked in the dorsal fin. I run a different hook configuration on my lures and I hook up with alot of those fish smacking at the lures.
I've had to pull and chase 20 pounders.
When they get fired up and you foul hook one a 20 pounder can feel 35.

I hate foul hooked fish. Nothing like scewing up your whole morning prime time bite then back down and pulling all lines for a tail hooked 15 lber.

Went out this morning, lines in at 5 had action every hour up until 11. Ended up 8/9 j plugs and meat were the ticket.

Not very crowded out there tonight, surprisingly. It was a tough night, going 1/6. All hits came after 8 and around 80 fow. Plugs took the majority of the hits, with 1 on a spoon and 1 (very angry and large fish) on flasher/fly. Temp was down around 60 where we were.

Same here. 1/1. Ratchet jaw on rigger down 50. Only hit for the night. Was running all spoons. Damn…..sure are tight lipped at tournament time.
Never been spooled either, other than by a nine foot bull shark on the salty surf. FWIW - when you hook one that wants to run a little further you’ve got options. Turn a big wide circle toward the fish to shorten the distance. This method gives you better control of the fish in crowded conditions so someone doesn’t cut it off for you. If conditions make circling tough, then you can slow down a little, go neutral, or in and out of gear.
