Labor Day weekend is 3.5 weeks away. Still good fishing to be had out of Frankfort during that time of year?

Anyone check the harbor today? Just wondering if there is anything out there worth jigging tomorrow morning.
My boys and I hauled our boat up from Lansing today for our first Frankfort foray. Still haven’t taken it off the trailer. Tomorrow doesn’t look likely either. Fingers crossed for Sunday and Monday….

I sat by the harbor this afternoon/evening and watched a handful of boats jigging. Judging by the empty two hearteds that I found at my feet, I must have been there a while…. Never saw a net flash.

Anyone get out this morning? How rough was it?

Looks like it builds throughout the day…. Tomorrow looks reasonable for a 18 footer.

Really? Forked tail. Looks a lot different than the king next to it in the box. But I’ll take your word for it. I’m new at the deep water game.

Morning looks good. Boys and I plan to have lines wet by 0600. Hopefully they will be up higher tomorrow. We didn’t get bit on anything less than 80’ down this morning. For an 18 footer with no riggers, it was tough. Hopefully some long lines will go off tomorrow.

Tight lines to all!

My boys and I fished Frankfort for the first time this past Labor Day weekend.

Due to weather and the size of our vessel, we didn’t go out Friday nor Saturday.

I figured Sunday morning would still be a little sporty for my two youngest, so my oldest son, Nate and I went out. Just the two of us.

All four of us went out Sunday morning. We caught two fish. A king and a coho. We fished the same water Nate and I fished the morning prior. We should have just stayed closer to shore.

Anyway, this was the first picture I took of the weekend. I took a lot of pictures after that one. Even some glory shots. But this one is my favorite of the weekend. Has a beginning, middle and an end. The end, the sky, I think I like the best.

It was our first bite of the morning. And we had gotten an early start…. Doubt was starting to set in…..

We had a nice king 20 feet from the back of the boat. Our first fish in Frankfort! And he came off…. Sucked balls. But i love the picture and the memory.

Thanks to all those who share their reports here. Really helped us put together a game plan. We didn’t kill ‘em. But we learned a lot, caught a few fish, and really enjoyed Frankfort. Good thing going on in that town. We’ll be back.
