Sadly not, called the marina yesterday, waiting for a call back on when they’re putting it in. If they don’t call me by Friday I’ll call em again, I just don’t like to be the annoying customer.

Muskegon is quite a ways from fankfort. They slowly work their way up the coast in the spring. I've heard some good reports out of Pentwater so it shouldn't be long before they are in manistee and then frankfort. But who knows with this week's cool off

Not trying to be a Debbie downer but I'm 90% certain sport fish MI does not run first mates and also they are on smallmouth bass on the bays right now. They won't even target kings until the fall. Most charter boats who need mates have them already, but you may find a boat that could use a backup mate for emergencies or when their regular mate needs a break.

The alewife die off happens yearly, just not usually to the extent that it is this year. Partly due to the cold water

It’s not the die off that impresses me. It’s the multi year classes up in the river & around the piers still! They’re not there spawning, why are they there en mass?

Too many age classes to all be spawners. The magnum spawners were in earlier, now it’s the 3” class, 2yo I think. That’s why I question.

In freshwater male alewife can mature at age 2, cant imagine that would be a very big alewife.

Probably right. This is just a phenomenon I have never seen before in the Betsy, never even close, & I’m an old guy!

I've been told it used to happen back in the 60s and 70s, but obviously that's well before I was even a glimmer in my parents eyes 😂
