I was once told by a local fisherman (I believe he was a guide also) that I should join the Clinton River Watershed Council, and I am planning to do some more research once things start slowing down for me. Many of these groups below seem to work with each other, and there are many TU chapters in the Detroit area.

Rouge River Project: http://www.rougeriver.com/
Michigan Trout Unlimited: http://www.mctu.org/
Here is a list of local TU Chapters like the already mentioned Clinton Valley: http://www.mctu.org/Chapter_Sites/Michigan_Chapters-new.htm
Great Lakes Federation of Fly Fishers: http://www.fffglc.org
Johnson Creek Protection Group: http://www.jcpg.org/

Go to CRWC.org

Though it's called the Clinton River Watershed Council, they do work on the Paint Creek as it is part of the watershed.

I am a member and have worked first-hand on some of their projects.

My only gripe is that they tend to focus more on the Paint Creek in Rochester than up here near its source in Lake Orion.

They are good, helpful people. I wish more people on this board would join. Worth the $25 or $35 for sure...

I appreciate the recomendations.

I wil look into the Clinton Watershed Council and Clinton TU. If I were to only join one, would you choose one over the other?

Both are worthwhile.

All I know is the CRWC seems to be a little more active in terms of hands-on projects to improve the fishery recently.

CVTU has done some big projects in the past, but does not seem to have done as much recently, but then again I am not a member of CVTU all I have to go by is their website and what I read in the paper and hear. Maybe they have been doing a lot just more secretively???
