It's about 11:30 and were heading out after some rabbits boys. I know with the break in the weather we're not the only one's with the same idea. How'd your day go. We'll post with the results when we get back in, if there are any . Wish us luck, good huntin' boys.

I went out this morning at the crack of 10:30

Snow was DEEP! Kayla had a nice point to start the morning, but bumped two grouse. She was having a hard enough time walking and trying to stay on top of the snow and move, so I'm sure her clumsyness played a good role...

-Could have shot 4 rabbits, but since I'm still trying to hold off on taking rabbits in front of her... they all got to live-

You hound folks need to get ahold of me and come out so we can do some shooting.

Well I guess we were the only ones....

Anyway, me and the pup had a good day. 3 rabbits up and I actually hit one, there's a surprise. 2 grouse as well in about 2 hours, that's pretty good for southeast MI. The snow wasn't too bad a bit deep here and there but for the most part it was receding, there were even bare spots of grass. If anyone wants to get out this week I'm on spring break and need to practice some shooting, just PM me.

Grouse are spread throughout the entire state but numbers are scarce in some places. I've put up about 5 grouse this year all within an hours drive of Ypsilanti. Not great numbers that's for sure but a flush every now and then is nice. I know there are some people who know some real good honeyhole's around here but keep them to themselves (don't blame them). Sad part is that every grouse I've put up around here I've never had a gun in my hand, maybe it's better that way!

Did alot of running and not alot of shooting since we haven't had very good conditions lately we let the dogs run.

We ended up with four and the dogs cought 1 so we had a tottal of 5 for the day.
Well 4 1/2 LOL the dogs ate alot of the one they cought.

I have hunted in south west Michigan my hole life and never flushed a grouse I am a avid grouse hunter so I would know if I did. A good friend of mine just told me today that he knows where there is a few in SE mich so thats cool I just did not know
