Found this with many others on cut grass near oak and pine (white?). Would appear to be mycorrhizal. I sadly left my books at home. This is in Caseville, area. Should I bag them and figure it out tomorrow at home? Or " no way- They're poison!", and leave them be.

Russulas come in all colors. The green ones are pretty good from what I hear. I passed up thousands of them today. Most were emetica (red)or the color of yours. I think I saw a dozen purple and a few green. One of these days I'm going to sample the green.
Did that stem snap like chalk? It looks like a clean break.
Gosh, not as firm as chalk, I did not think significant either way. Pinched and broke with finger nail.
I'm not familiar with russulas, I see that there are varieties.
