I had some pretty amazing luck this week. I set up a new trail cam on Tuesday afternoon on one of the trails near my cabin. The very first critter to stroll past, just over four hours later, was a young black bear.

I ran into a friend the lives near Hardy Dam at Lowes in Big Rapids the other day. He was looking for a new bird feeder as the neighborhood bear had destroyed his. It bent over 1 inch pipe to get it.

I told him the best bet was to leave it down until the bear hibernated or get one made out of boiler plate.

My buddies and I did a bowfishing tournament at Hardy Pond this weekend. We seen a young bear cross US 131 Saturday near the state park exit while we where headed to the tournament! It was way to small to be an adult. It was about the size of a fat black lab but wrong shape and ran like a bear.
