If there are any new Michigan Traditional Bowhunter members surfing here I would encourage you to come on board and tell us a little about yourselves. Theres a great bunch of people in this organization. I've only had the pleasure to meet a few so far but look forward to meeting more.
And by all means come to the jamboree this summer in Grayling. Its one of the best times I've ever had at an event like this.

Hi, I am Jerry Richard, this is my second year in MTB, my first time on the message board. I live in Lake City. I've worked for Meijer for 36 years. So when they built the store in Cadillac, we saw our opportunity to build a log home and live in the woods. My wife and I built our log home on 35 acres of hardwoods. I have access to joining 1,000 acres. We also hunt 120 acres in Alpena. I have been bow hunting since I was 19, am now 52. I began hunting with traditional then I went to compound, in the last six years I have hunted traditional. Traditional is now my way of life. I hope to get involved in the club, maybe by helping MTB jamboree. I was lucky enough to harvest a spike and a doe with my recurve, this year.

Hey Jerry - nice to see you post. And thanks for joining MTB.

Wow - congrats on just an awesome move - you are really "living the dream." Good for you.

If you've got a picture of yourself with that doe or spike, I'd sure like to put it in the next issue of Trad Trails in the trophy section. It's always nice to put in picts of our newer members. Shoot me an e-mail if you're interested. [email protected]

Speaking of new members, we picked up close to 40 renewals and new members at the Trad Expo last weekend. We are growing fast!

Thanks for joining MTB Jerry and yeah - be sure to come up to Grayling this summer.

Congradulations Jerry
Maybe I will get a chance to meet you this year at the jamboree.
Send Chuck some pictures and or a story to put in the Traditional Trails .
Chuck sounds like MTB did real well at the Trad. Expo.
Maybe a few others will post on here.

Welcome aboard Jerry

This is one fantastic organization with a ton of really good people. Fairly new myself to MTB but have not been disappointed at all.

Look me up at Grayling in June. I may have a booth there and will be camping with others.

Hi guys, Kevin Cummings here. I live in Cadillac and do most of my hunting at my camp near Harrietta. I have been bowhinting since I was 14 and am now 42. took my first deer with a recurve at 16, switched to a compound and was quite successful with that over the next 25 years or so. About three years ago, I switched back to a recurve. Fortunately, I have been successful in taking a buck each year since switching back.

I just joined MTB at the Kalamazoo show for the first time. I have met a few members like Chuck (Ibow) and SpartaT but am looking forward to meeting a lot more.

Aside to Jerry: We are currently in the middle of our winter traditional league at FPS archery. Just down Boon road from Meijers in Cadillac. We'd love to have you stop by and shoot with us. We are a small group, about 8 or 10 of us on any given week but we have a lot of fun. We shoot on Saturday afternoons at 3:00. If you are interested in finding out more about the league or have any other questions, let me know.

Hey Kevin – thanks for joining MTB and it was nice to meet you a while back. After reading a lot of your posts over the years on other sites, it’s nice to put a face with a name. MTB is gaining quite a contingent from that Cadillac area.

Your bowhunting history is similar to a lot of MTB members. I think the vast majority of us did the compound thing for a while and then came back “home”. :)

Be sure to come to the Jamboree Kevin and think about sending me a pict of some of your “Traditional Trophies” for the next magazine. It would be great to get a few new members faces “out there”.

Thanks for joining MTB Kevin … Chuck

Thanks for joining MTB. Look forward to meeting you guys at the jamboree this summer. I'm just a regular member but realy think MTB does a great job for people who like to shoot a stick and string. They also have a great bunch that run this organization. They even let me help out friday night at the Traditional Expo running the MTB booth with a few of them.:) Doug Roll

Even as we speak, I have my membership in front of me that I picked up at the K-zoo Expo. I will soon be part of what I percieve to be a great group of family oriented people. I am from K-zoo and am a relatively late comer to traditional archery. This was my second full season and at the mellow age of 57, I have fallen in love with the subtle attraction of the longbow. I was able to harvest my first whitetail this year. Quite a thrill! Most of my hunting is right here in the turkey and deer rich area of Southwest Mich. I do go to a very traditional camp in the Western U.P. for a week each year. I hope to be meeting some of you soon.

John L and Vesty ... GREAT ... thanks for joining MTB! Looking forward to meeting you guys at the Jamboree this summer.

John L ... if you're who I think you are, you're not that far from Hudsonville where I live. ;)

Vesty - that is a really neat thing that you have decided to go Traditional and then to take a whitetail on top of it - good for you. Not many guys are lucky enough to do so in their first year or two with trad equipment.

I joined MTB a few years ago and renewed my membership for 2 more years at the Expo. I missed seeing Chuck there but it's because of the people like him that I became a member. You'll have to look long and hard to find a better bunch of bow hunters. I won't be able to make the banquet but God willing and the creek don't rise I'll be at the Jamboree. That event is about as fun as it gets and if you've never been there before make sure you go. I promise you won't regret it. Heck I had dinner at 4 different campsites on Saturday night the last time we went and that doesn't even include my own.
