Well last tonight I ventured out to a local swamp. This was the first time in all the 13 years that I have hunted this is the first time I hunted a swamp. I found out that even though the ground looks solid from a distance it is very much NOT solid or even semi solid. After trudging around for 20 min in the God forsaken bowels of the swamp I got to the spot I wanted. It was great being out there. I missed the one teal I seen. I had scouted this swamp a few times on state land and noticed that a decent number of teal were using it. I also seen a lot of wood ducks and mallards using the swamp. The highlight of the night was a hen mallard landing about 75 yards outside of my decoys. After landing, we called back and forth to each other for a solid ten minutes before she flew away. I look forward to taking my dad out there this weekend when he comes to visit. Hopefully we have some ducks work our spread even if they are not teal, I still love seeing ducks work. Overall, it was great getting back out and do some hunting even though I only seen one teal. It is not always about the the shooting!
