I finally received the pictures from opening weekend of the 2003 firearm deer season. My buddy who owns the farm I hunt took the pic's. Between getting them developed, losing 1 set in the mail and getting the other set mailed and scanned, I can finally attempt to post my pic's and story.

The first buck I got was on opening day. At 10:30 my partner headed in to camp to take a break. I could see him walking around the edge of the woods from my ladder stand. As he rounded the front of the woods, the 9 point(nice 6 pt. with some extra stickers) also saw my partner. I heard him get out of his bed and watched him try to sneak away . I shot him at about 80 yard, and with both lungs gone he only went about 40 yards.

On the next morning, I was in a spot overlooking a CRP field and th edge fo a long narrow cedar swamp. I shot the 8 pt. at 126 yards while he was chasing a doe along the edge of the swamp. I hit him a little high but he went straight down.

Now neither of these bucks are huge, but they are by far the nicest I have shot with my gun. I have not taken a buck in 4 years on this farm but I have passed up at least a half dozen spikes and forkhorns a year over the last 4 years waiting for something a little nicer. I'm just happy I waited.

Okay, I will try to make this picture thing work.

Congrats!!!! Those are some nice bucks and it looks like passing on the smaller ones over the past few years is starting to pay off! I hope your taxidermist bill isn't too high!!!:p

Congradulations Jeff,
Those are dandy deer. Do you bowhunt there also or just gun hunt?

Thanks guy's. I have been fortunate enough to hunt at this farm since I was 14. The owner doesn't live there and they havn't actually farmed it in 20 years. Its a mix of grass fields and poplar forests.

The very generous owner always invites my brother and myself to bowhunt the weekend before gun season. Then our fathers join us on the firearm opener. I feel very lucky that I have been able to wake up as a guest in the same camp for the last 21 openers with family and great friends . I can't say thank you to them too many times.

Jeff :)

Thanks for sharing the photos.

Do you need some help with posting photos? If so, I have some very simple directions.
