The last time i picked up my boat i noticed that there was some oil (im assuming lower unit oil) Leaking out of the area where the prop connects on to the engine. I'm guessing some sort of a seal went bad on it???? Any opnions?

Pull the prop and look for fishing line wrapped around the shaft, my guess is you have torn the rubber seal that keeps the water out of the lower unit. Also you should drain the lower unit oil and look for water mixed, it will appear to have a milky or grey color to it. Dont ignor this, get the seal replaced. Very comon.

Depends on what outdrive you have and if there is any internal water damage, if it sat like that last winter it could cost more. Do you change outdrive fluid every fall? Thsi is a great reason to do it every fall that water inside can crack the housing over winter.

Lower seals I would guess should be under 300.00 but hey I am only guessing.

I did my 8 hp merc kicker and it was $160.00
