77 teams this year. The 4 largest exceed the tournament enrollment numbers. 1 of those on the 1 year grace period so 74 eligible for tournament. Possibly 1 or 2 might not even be able to field enough players for 8 man and will cancel season.
The number of schools going to 8 man has exceeded most guesses from a few years ago.

My grandson played 8 man when it got started around 10 years ago. It required a lot of traveling to get to his games as there were not many teams to play. The team he was quarterback for was made up of players from three charter schools in the Grand Rapids area. He had an heck of an arm throwing lots of long passes for touch downs to some fantastic receivers.

Those early years did involve a lot of travel for 8 man.
Looking at the enrollment numbers for schools playing 11 man, I see that there are about 25 schools still playing 11 man that are eligible for 8 man. Up the eligibility number by 25 and the number goes up to about 50.
100 schools playing 8 man will likely happen at some point.
Also noticed 1 school playing a blended schedule. 5 eleven man games and 3 eight man games so they are not eligible for either tournament.
