DNR is looking for feedback on the drawing process. One or two draws a day? Seven days a week or a day off? Probably more of a Fish Pt., Nayanquing Pt., Shiawassee focused question.
I liked the pre China Wuhan Virus system myself. It worked for years. But I don't hunt them much.
I certainly did not see a reason for the day off.
Maybe this year we'll just drive up, check in, and they will hand us our entitled allotment of ducks?

60 to 100 parties isn't a problem... it is equal opportunity for all.... if you want smaller numbers than hunt at a location that isn't designed to serve the masses...

managed areas are for "all" of us.... not a select few....

personally I would like to see more people at the draws... that means more people engaged...

I agree that Pt Mouille was unique... but that doesn't make it wrong....

as a side note... before everyone gets their waders in a bunch... I am not a bingo hunter... I was for 30 plus yrs... just decided that there were other options out there...

so my views come from a little insight to bingo within the lower Michigan areas and Ontario managed areas.... they may may be wrong but they are my opinion....

2 draws. 14 draws a week.

ran poll similar on sfcha page while back. this was screenshot when i had 60 responses. i ended up with with 120 responses but while downloading the poll to spreadsheet it corrupted and lost all of the poll, grrrr. at 120 responses the percentages were roughly the same +/- a few %.

we can always count on you to be quick to be creative - be it mostly a single dimensional thought

if only someday you invoked a '24 rule' to think about the 'cons' before you post, to consider all of the other ramifications, I would be agreeing with the 5-10% of your creative ideas that have a chance of being an improvement! haha

Any input on the effects of the one day off (for the those units that were drawing twice a day/7 days a week) on how the DUCKS behaved from the unit managers? Hunters? Basically, did it effect how the ducks decoyed, stayed around, etc. This is NOT in regards to how it effected the number of hunters who hunted, number of draws a week, etc. I realize this is info/data/what ever you want to call it is for one season. Hard to draw conclusive changes on such little data, compared to the years worth from previous seasons.

I would like to ask the question... should the "refuge" be a food plot such as Harsens... side topic but maybe the question should be how do we manage the "refuge" portion of our bingo areas...

there seems to be a significant variation in how the areas are managed...

also should the "zones" size be common within all the managed areas... look at how many zones SGA would have if they used the Harsens or Pt Mouille layout...

If Shi used the layout of everyone else I wouldn’t hunt there. That’s what makes it different and unique.

morning one day than afternoon the next.... keeps everyone engaged... doesn't put 24/7 pressure on the birds....

maybe Saturday and Sunday am and pm....

rest all birds on Monday....

Tuesday and Thursday pm

Wednesday and Friday am...

just an idea...
Where I hunt in NC, it’s 2 mornings a week period. Every hunt is a quality one.

I have hunted places where they draw two times a week. Friday at noon is a draw for Saturday sunday and monday. Monday afternoon they draw Tues-thurs days. If you get drawn 1st you pick the day and area you want and it is good the entire day. I really liked it because on the day of the hunt you dont have to get up so early.

Seems like with all the new technologies out there with people working from home you could do an online live draw the day before your hunt. Do morning and afternoon hunt back to back in the draw and be done with it. I had a meeting this morning with engineers from the US, mexico and china all talking and sharing information across the globe. Seems like a duck hunter could pick his spot from home easy enough and print a daily permit.

Sure would make it easier for people who travel across the state to hunt.

when there is 60 parties at the draw and only 10 of those trucks have a boat hooked to them...we got a problem. GMA's need participants...remember that. yes quality of hunt....but also yes, participation. you start cutting participation, you start making them easier targets for cuts.

I understand what you’re saying. But LAST YEAR the problem was MOST of those guys were gunning for prior. Or they sent a buddy to the draw and would hunt the afternoon. Or maybe late morning. It gave the hunters the freedom to show up whenever they wanted to. I like that. I get what you’re saying.

I like the flexibility of the all day hunt, but the lack of pm draws does not work with my schedule at all, nor for recruiting new hunters to the units.

Last year I hunted the managed areas 17 times, hitting all but Hİ and PM. Brought newbies to FP, Shiawassee, and several groups to Muskegon.

This year I hunted Muskegon 11 times and Fennville three. I took no newbies on these trips. I did hunt with former newbies and also mentored them when they hunted on their own (and learned from their fresh perspective).

But no new blood was recruited.

That might be a whole new thread. It’s painful as a single when you have to scratch on a top 10 pick when the singles zones get scooped up so fast.

How about the lack of solo guys “partying up” since there was no need this year? My best hunting buddy came from a random, also my worst experience in my life lol.
