Here's page 2, requires writing so not sure if a computer is involved? Im surprised more people dont get these. Its not?
Even guys at the wildlife division know who the reality name of the online poster QDMAMAN is.
My guess is that mailed survey hits the trash can because it cannot be read by a computer.
Terrible waste of a resource.
There's a set number of people that by some random process recieve those in a given year.Im surprised more people dont get these.

Most small town libraries have computers with internet connections you can use.And what about the people that don't have a computer??? I can think of 3 of that i know that don't have a computer !! Hell people freak out when i tell them i don't own a cell phone !!
Take it from someone that's seen both, the voluntarily and mail survey... They are exactly the same. The fuss is, this is the information that the DNR uses to estimate harvest rates and make decisions on future regulations. The online survey does not do that.
He has no idea what he is talking about. Of course the comments do get read. Brian Frawley, who writes and analyzes the surveys, is very conscientious and serious minded about his work. Those surveys don't get seen by anyone, just a computer? I've actually received quite a few of these in the past, deer, waterfowl, turkey, and fur harvester I think. Gotten them from MO too. They always have a space to write in your comments at the end. So no one ever sees those? Or is the one in this thread something different?
A huge number of people get them. It is a massive survey. Here's page 2, requires writing so not sure if a computer is involved? Im surprised more people dont get these. View attachment 202938
Perhaps a simple lesson in statistics would help. Surveys go out to about 1 in 13 hunters. The chances of not getting one in 36 years of hunting is roughly the same as flipping a head three times in a row with a coin. Not unusual. As far as the 80 years go, you are harkening back to times when surveys were not done. Not sure when they started doing the harvest surveys.Myself, my Dad, and my 2 sons have over 80 years of hunting here in Michigan, we have never received, nor do we even know of anyone who has seen one of these surveys. Little skewed maybe?...This survey is a myth in my neck of the woods..
That is not a small survey. It is a huge one. It gets the DNR to at least +/- 3% on most important items.Yes, I know that they gather other data. But on a percentage basis this is the big kahuna! The responses of the small sample (59,000) surveyed will be extrapolated to be representative of all of the hunters statewide (600,000).
You do know that, don't you?
