Its not?
Even guys at the wildlife division know who the reality name of the online poster QDMAMAN is.
My guess is that mailed survey hits the trash can because it cannot be read by a computer.
Terrible waste of a resource.

I totally agree. If he had used a purple crayon it would even be more awesome. That survey very likely will not be counted by the robotic computerized reader...............................awesome indeed.

Im surprised more people dont get these.
There's a set number of people that by some random process recieve those in a given year.
I have received 3 to date in my hunting career but never felt the need to scribble crap over the front, then run to social media, post a picture to show off my skills.
Perhaps paintshop will become a standard add on for the online version so we can keep up with your efforts in the future when you are surprised next year that you did not get one.

Why did you post the rule reminder? Which # rule did i break? You think im joking around with my survey? There IS NOT a comment box on these survey. I write on my surveys every year.

Myself, my Dad, and my 2 sons have over 80 years of hunting here in Michigan, we have never received, nor do we even know of anyone who has seen one of these surveys. Little skewed maybe?...This survey is a myth in my neck of the woods..

Ahhh yes they do. But that would require getting off the couch and report your season to the dnr via one of their avenues to collect data. Its much easier to stay home pissin' and moanin' and coming up with excuses on how one can't fill out or receive a survey.

Those surveys don't get seen by anyone, just a computer? I've actually received quite a few of these in the past, deer, waterfowl, turkey, and fur harvester I think. Gotten them from MO too. They always have a space to write in your comments at the end. So no one ever sees those? Or is the one in this thread something different?
He has no idea what he is talking about. Of course the comments do get read. Brian Frawley, who writes and analyzes the surveys, is very conscientious and serious minded about his work.

Perhaps a simple lesson in statistics would help. Surveys go out to about 1 in 13 hunters. The chances of not getting one in 36 years of hunting is roughly the same as flipping a head three times in a row with a coin. Not unusual. As far as the 80 years go, you are harkening back to times when surveys were not done. Not sure when they started doing the harvest surveys.

This is a massive survey. The fact that you have not received one means absolutely nothing. You have the same odds of getting one every year as anybody else does.

I meant 80 plus hunting years "combined", thought that was easy to see..I've been asking hunting buddies and some of my Dad's old hunting partners for a couple years now and a few of them have never even heard of the hunting survey...Boy that's a lot of lost coin flips!...So we're getting data from 1 out of every 13 coin flips...Stat class huh?

Yes, I know that they gather other data. But on a percentage basis this is the big kahuna! The responses of the small sample (59,000) surveyed will be extrapolated to be representative of all of the hunters statewide (600,000).

You do know that, don't you?
That is not a small survey. It is a huge one. It gets the DNR to at least +/- 3% on most important items.

I happen to agree.

I have to ask....Have they ever taken advantage of a vote to make changes when it comes up short by that margin of error?....and if they have, would you agree that this is the "correct" thing to do?
