LSC first timer

My favorite lake (Houghton Lake) has to much slush for the ATV's. So I thought I'd give LSC a try. I've heard theres a launch at the end of M-59 so I thought I'd start there. Are you guys having the same problem with the slush at LSC? How about the wind, has it blown out all of the ice over the last couple of days? If a guy was interested in gills and pike where would he head on the lake? Any help would be appreciated.
