I was out tonight on prince lake (bald mountian) had 7 in. There was some slush on top in some areas but the shore was holding good. Caught at least 40 gills in less than 2 hrs nothing worth keeping though. I think as long as the night time lows stay around freezing and the sun doesnt come out we should be in good shape..

I was out at Kent Lake last night and the ice in the bays were
in better shape than a couple days ago.
5 to 6 inches everywhere I went.
Seen one nice pike caught on a tipup along with few nice gills.
It's definitely a day to day thing right now.

Are you guys getting the same weather we are here? The ice is done.
I was back out on Kent Lake tonight, the ice was still good in the bay
where I fish. A little slush in some spots, but mostly high and
dry in the middle. Still 5 to 6 inches of ice.
This bay is only 6 ft. deep.
We don't get as mush snow as you do,
that might have something to do with it,maybe.
I been fishing this area since Dec. 8th so far.
I still approach it each day with first and last ice tactics.
With the current weather forecast, I am not sure how much longer
it will hold up though.

Been ice fishing every day this week at Waterloo Rec Area and I am scraed of thin ice! The ice is safe there at about 6". The warm weather is keeping the fishermen off the lakes but it is really OK if you don't stand in a crowd of ten people or something dumb. Yesterday I caught four catfish in a thunderstorm? Pretty weird weather for sure. As Mike said, "I still approach it each day with first and last ice tactics." The gill fishing is pretty good where I go and the crappies have been really hot right at dark. I even managed a 13"er night before last.
