Looking to buy a Salmon / Steelhead setup for the river

Hey All.

I'm interested in fishing rivers for steelhead / salmon this season and I've never done this kind of fishing before. I'm looking for recommendations for a setup that would be suitable for floating beads / spawn. I'm not sure what length / action rod I should buy and also what size spinning reel / Line to pair with it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend different rods, and lines for Steelhead, and King Salmon. You could get by with 1 reel that has a couple spools for different lines.

9.5 - 10 foot rod. I like fast action rods rated to 10# for Steelhed, and at least 15# - 20# for King Salmon. You can use the same rod/reel for Steelhead, Cohos, Atlantics, and Browns. Spinning reel in 2000 or 3000 size, that has a good drag. Some slip bobbers, and stops. Line. Good hooks. Round splitshots in a few sizes. And some beads, til you get spawn.

Thank you for this info!
Much appreciated.

id get this model SST-S-1062Ma
Then grab one of these in 4000 sized, great starter reel
Until you can save up and upgrade to a higher end reel. My number one recommendation being a daiwa BG in size 3000
With this combo you can cast for pier kings and steelies, and float fish for river steelies. Although in my taste its a little underpowered for river kings, but definitely doable especially casting hardware in a more open area of a river like tippy

Size 3000 is good buti prefer size 2500 for fun.

I like the 9'0ML moderate fast.

Both are around $67. I enjoy both
