In January I purchased a 27 ton Champion splitter from Home Depot. the return time is amazing, just 11 seconds and the log catchers are a plus. Overall it works great.

Looking at buying a log splitter not sure if I a 25ton is plenty or should I get The 40ton. Most likely going with county line through tractor supply. any input is appreciated
Just depends on the logs you'll split. A 22-27 ton will split almost any log but will struggle and more than likely not last if you run it too hard. I'd go the bigger one if all your logs are monsters. I purchase Champion products. They've never let me down. County line is a good one from people I know have them.

I have a Huskee 12hp 35 ton from TSC it's about 20 years old. No issues. I don't leave gas in it l run it dry for off season. My brother in law has a Huskee 8hp 27 ton. No issues. They are both stored inside. His is about 20+ years old was originally a neighbor's splitter he bought. They aren't getting any cheaper for sure. If it was me l would go as big as you can afford. Overkill on a splitter won't hurt.
