Anybody currently (or ever) have a log home as a permanent residence? Pros? Cons?

Shakespeare, I don't have one, but I have been researching them for quite some time since we will be building a new home in the next year or two. I have decided (I think) to not build a log home at this time. For me, I think the maintenance and possibly the cost was the determining factor. I absolutely LOVE the idea of having one, but at this point in my life I don't have time for a lot of house maintenance. I need to build something that will be mostly maintenance free.

Im with duckman, log is real neat to look at, but maintanance is a pain. I lived in alaska for 10 yrs, the office I worked out of was a log home, very hard to heat, logs were always dusty, the logs no matter how dry they are will still crak and split in time.lots of other negatives-- but they are nice looking!
