Back at it as guide in the morning. Camera has been more active today than the last week combined. Deer appear to like the warm up!

Finally. Some daylight movement since last week here at the range. There use to be 3 last time I saw them .

Had a 4 or 6 moments before them . Came out behind where they are and turned back up the hill. A 6'er would finish my straight hand to 8 hanging on the wall at home.

Back at it on GT public in a nice little valley with tracks on both sides. Pillows of snow falling from the trees and the winds are a little swirly, should be an interesting hunt.

In for a quick hunt after work. Haven’t hunted this property in 2 weeks. Probably take a doe tonight if it’s an easy opportunity. Or of course a buck that’s big enough for me to tag out on.

If I don’t tag out by Saturday night, I may just be heading to the Yoop where everyday is like opening day. All my stuff up there is prepped and ready.

Dude you aren’t supposed to sit right on the deer trail. Even a few yards off of it would be fine. Hopefully you don’t get in the middle of a stampede

The deer are heading to the hayfield now. It’s been another non stop day of looking at lots of DNFs. I’m 20 yards from the lip of a big ravine. Typically this spot has fewer sightings than today but has given up some nice bucks over the years.

Ive heard six shots today which is a high number after the opener but before Thanksging weekend. It ain’t over till it’s over.

Another great still today but lack of wind made it tough to get close. My calves are absolutely on fire right now after being locked up in awkward position the last two days when miss bitch saw movement and did the mandatory ten minute look. Loved every minute of it. What a couple of gorgeous days to be in the woods happy thanksgiving everyone. May sit the morning but heading north for steelheads Thursday

Ended up out the woods early too. Fun still hunt getting harder without new snow to decipher absolute freshest sets. Either way saw deer and was in the woods

I wouldn't know, i typically take care of em' with the .243, get down and let the stand rest for a couple days. No buck is worth suffering through their stupid call and aggressive behavior.

Seemed he was a 3 point, maybe a nub for 4. He locked onto that DnF hard due to a scent wick of do me doe wafting over her at him. After a while he finally turned around and just locked with radar eyes that he'll behind him. All I could think was Here Comes one. I was absolutely right. A little 2-in spike.

I guess he got too close to the doefawn and she ran off. A few minutes later the bigger Doe took off also waving her tail at him. Since the scent wick was still out there the look on his face was utter confusion. He could smell the wick, but there was nothing standing under it all the sudden. When I looked through the binoculars I caught him dead in the eye and I could see him trying to figure out what in the world just occurred. He seems to be wandering off now. Kind of has a dejected walk to him too

On a whim decided to come to work late and hunt this morning, they took off the last of the corn in the area after dark last night which helped the decision. Very active morning seeing a couple small bucks first thing, then a couple yearling does worked in front of me. I caught movement 40 yards out in some thick stuff and noticed a small 6 coming in but he had 2 others with him. Noticed some rack but couldn’t see much. He came into an opening to check out the doe fawns and I was debating whether to shoot or not. Well I quickly realized I was an idiot for thinking that and lined up the shot at 30 yards. He reared up on his hind legs, did a little circle and it was lights out. I then caught a whiff. You know that stanky tarsal glad stench. Cripes he is a rutty stanky deer and appears quite run down after the rut. Clinton County, over and out.

Congrats on the medium buck!.... I'll put my last tag on one like that gladly tomorrow!
