Out in the ground blind with my 8 y/o. He tagged his first deer (doe) during the youth hunt and now wants some horns!

“I’m hoping to shoot a nice 14 point” roflmao!

At least he has high standards

Bless his heart. I hope little dude somehow does it. Or better yet shoots a little buck and is just as happy.

Deer hunting Snow Carnivore Dog breed Fawn

Here he is boys, I have seen some were around a dozen different bucks over the last 2 weeks. Haven’t laid eyes on this guy until today. Nearly shot a bigger one with the bow but couldn’t get a clean shot.

On a whim decided to come to work late and hunt this morning, they took off the last of the corn in the area after dark last night which helped the decision. Very active morning seeing a couple small bucks first thing, then a couple yearling does worked in front of me. I caught movement 40 yards out in some thick stuff and noticed a small 6 coming in but he had 2 others with him. Noticed some rack but couldn’t see much. He came into an opening to check out the doe fawns and I was debating whether to shoot or not. Well I quickly realized I was an idiot for thinking that and lined up the shot at 30 yards. He reared up on his hind legs, did a little circle and it was lights out. I then caught a whiff. You know that stanky tarsal glad stench. Cripes he is a rutty stanky deer and appears quite run down after the rut. Clinton County, over and out.

Late start for me today. Trying to get the camp work wise so I headed for the woods at 10:30. Already have had 3 fawns and what appears to be a yearling doe feed through.

Good luck hunters have a good holiday. I’m sure tomorrow is a travel day for many. Be careful Wednesday is the most popular bar day of the year.

For those traveling above the bridge remember Hunter safety rule #1. Always treat a Yooper as if he is loaded.

Congrats! He's a dandy.

Little too cold for me this morning so I got a few things done around the house.

Got out here awhile ago to enjoy the beautiful conditions & hopefully see some deer moving. I have been watching some turkey almost since the time got settled in the treestand.

Beautiful clear day with full sun, light south breezes & 44 degrees here in St. Clair County.

Good Luck!

As I was typing a small buck went by at about 100 yards heading into the swamp...off to a good start!

The first two fawns that came by are bedded less than 50 yards from me. They did the same thing on Friday. I can see two more does and a fawn nears the end of the shooting lane. I’m pretty sure she has been working a licking branch. Light snow just started.
