Well, I don't have the scope, but it is on my list. I will be replacing my stainless Vari X II on my 700 Mountain Rifle with this scope. (I can't stand shiny silver scopes!) I think it is about ideal in size weight and power. 6x is fine from the bench and more than enough to handle most any hunting situation. The 32mm objective, in those power ranges will be plenty bright enough to allow you to use all the legal shooting light your allowed.
And one benefit is the cost.....$399 for a VX III compared to the 3.5x10-40mm which costs $469.
Another VXIII to consider is the 2.5x8-36mm, again close to ideal in size and weight and still costs $399. It's a little longer scope, so depending on what type of gun your mounting this on, one of these two models will probably fit the bill perfectly.
