anyone ever see a Kingfisher here in Michigan. Until today I had not seen one. I was driving in Bay County near saginaw bay and saw what I thought was a kingfisher sitting on a wire that crossed the road, I turned around and looked again, and it was still there. Big top knot, long beak, sure looked like one. tia

I can't remember the last time I've seen one.

I see them a lot on Belleville Lake. There are a bunch of them by Rawsonville Road, and upstream toward a dam. I see them up north, too; but not as many as I did, years ago.

I hinged a big maple along the creek and a big branch perched over the creek so I left it. It’s now dead and gone but I think I might tie a big rope across creek for a new perch. King fishers used it daily. Loved watching it out the house window.

I see them all the time fishing the Saginaw. There is usually enough open water around that they stick around all year long.
