Are there any pier/surf fishing locations on Superior in the west/central UP where I might have an opportunity to catch some spawning whitefish? The snow may have started, but I'm not ready to give up fishing for the year quite yet!

Those two big arms at McLain state park I found on apple maps look promising. 15 minutes from Hancock.

Dunno about Whitefish, but there are plenty of Steelhead feeding at Superior river mouths right now. Action can be fast-n-furious in bursts, with fish hitting just 20 feet from shore. Caught several just like this one over the last ten days:

Lake effect just chased me back down to the Banana Belt for a day or two, then have to go on down ‘cross da Bridge. Bummed.
