I went to Cabela's bright and early this morning to blow my Christmas cash. I walked out with the Otter II Med. Cabin and I just got done assembling it. All I can say is WOW!!! These things are nice! Couple of changes I noticed though,, from last years models, the new ones use square tubing, instead of the round aluminum from last year. The square tubing seemed to be a bit difficult to get together, on some of the pieces. It also says this thing weighs 60lbs. , not totally sure how they weighed it, feels a little more than 60. On the plus side,, I'm completely "self-contained" now, shanty and sled all in one! You guys are gonna have to laugh at someone else now, when their buckets fall of the sled/shanty and ALL THEIR CRAP, SPILLS ONTO THE ICE!

Overall grade, A-

Now someone has to start the thread about the rod holders for the "quick flip" style shanties.

Tom,
The "green" Med. Cabin is 249.99, its listed as 279.99 but it rings up at 249.99, its a "managers special", then or course you need the sled, 85 bucks:rolleyes:. The purple one is 289.99 + the sled. I wanted the purple, but for 40 bucks less, I could "stomach" the green. Its hard to believe that the "nasty" purple is MORE than the green. I'd get it though,, its a pretty sweet rig.

My wife and I just upgraded to a Clam 5600. What a nice product, everything about it is first class. A little heavy but we made a sled out of some old downhill skis and it pulls easier than our old smaller shanty did - even with the power auger on top! Highly recomended if you want a big shanty for more than 1 angler.
