What a radical-most want the hunts to STOP even though target populations are about 3x what was originally agreed. Probably mostly the wolf lovers-Natives, Vetrenarians and others.

I thought we would at very least hear talk of a wolf hunt after the delisting.
If we ever do have another hunt someday, i hope they pull out the stops and allow trapping and hounds.

You can bet the lefties are looking for a judge to stop the wolf hunt. Hopefully they are unsuccessful.

A legal wolf hunt sure beats the ‘unofficial’ illegal wolf hunt, one would think.

Court denies DNR appeal over wolf hunt

A Milwaukee district court on Friday denied an appeal by the Department of Natural Resources that sought to stop a Wisconsin wolf hunting and trapping season this month.

The appellate court decision paves the way for the season to begin Monday. It will last until kill quotas are reached or Feb. 28, whichever comes first.

Hunters, trappers kill 52 Wisconsin wolves on opening day
Wolf hunters and trappers filled nearly half of their statewide quota during the first 24 hours of the season, wildlife officials said Tuesday.

The Department of Natural Resources launched a week-long wolf hunt on Monday. As of Tuesday morning, hunters and trappers had taken 52 wolves, filling nearly 44% of the 119-animal state quota. The central Wisconsin management zone yielded the most kills with 17. That zone includes portions of Adams, Juneau, Monroe, Clark and Eau Claire counties.

Hunters and trappers exceed Wisconsin wolf kill target

Hunters and trappers exceeded Wisconsin’s wolf kill target by Wednesday morning and still had hours left to kill more of the animals.

The Department of Natural Resources reported that 135 wolves had been killed since the brief hunting season began Monday, which was 16 more than the state’s target of 119.

The WI statewide quota is 200 but 81 of those went to the native tribes. No word yet on their kill.
