Sounds like your gonna get it, can you pair up with someone with experience? I'm no saginaw pro but 1/2 oz has always been more than enough, although this spring it was very dirty and pounding the bottom with 1 oz helped. I am a low and slow cadence guy but if it aint workin switch. Get a rythm, focus, anticipate bottom if something feels different set the hook. Hookset are free. I also like to shorten up my plastics a bit. Keep at it good luck
