I went out yesterday and tried jigging the Saginaw river from where the Shiawassee and tittabawassee meet down past wicks part. I had a lot bites but, couldn’t stick em ( maybe they weren’t walleye). I was jigging a pimp daddy fin-s with a stinger hook attached. So far since November when I started jigging I am 0-6 on trips.
I’m actually pretty good at keeping my line vertical and maintaining bottom contact while jigging. I am using a transom mounted trolling motor so one hand is usually on the motor and the other on the rod. I don’t know if I need to try minnows or what. Most of my jigging motions came with a short up and down motion pounding the bottom. In Warmer weather do they want the jig to go farther up and than down?
With this warm weather will this push the walleye farther to the deeper parts of the river and towards bay city. For Saturday I am thinking of putting in on that launch north of the zillwaukkee bridge on m-13 and aging north.
